Africa Art Lines

is a fund that allows artists and cultural operators carrying artistic projects between Morocco and other african countries to benefit from grants for their travel expenses. Africa art Lines is open to artists and cultural professionals living and working within the continent and holding projects related to morocco. Link


By supporting contemporary cultural and artistic projects, the Fund aims to initiate and strengthen interregional and international cultural dialogue with Berlin as its starting point. Funding is available for projects in all areas of artistic activity (except filmmaking). The projects should be designed for Berlin and presented in Berlin.  Link

Theatre and the Performing Arts 


Basis funding

Funding is available through this programme to theatres and theatre/dance groups which operate as private entities and are based in Berlin. Basic funding is allocated for a period of two years.


Fonds Darstellende Künste 

Since 1988, the Fonds Darstellende Künste has been promoting projects in all sectors of the performing arts. Throughout its almost 30 years of promotional activity, the fund has provided grants of approx. €16 million for about 3,000 individual projects and project concepts in all federal states and more than 300 municipalities. Link

Hessen – Theatre project funding

The Hessian Ministry of Science and Art grants local, regional and national Initiatives in the field of theatre through projects in independent institutions This program funds temporary projects, if they are developed in local and regional circumstances and in the interests of the region of Hesse. Link

Senate Department for Culture and Europe Berlin

This programme was established to promote the inclusion and work of artists with migration backgrounds within the arts and supplements other funding programmes administered by the Senate Chancellery – Cultural Affairs. Funding is provided to artistic projects focusing on issues relating to inter-culturality previously unexplored or otherwise neglected within the cultural sector. Link

Early career funding

This programme provides funding to early career artists wishing to stage a debut production and reach a wider audience with their work. Link

Funding for individual projects

Funding is available through this programme to theatres and theatre/dance groups operating as private entities. Funding for individual projects is available in the form of a subsidy for production costs relating to projects of limited duration, the further development of existing productions or the programming of previous productions. Link

Federal Cultural Foundation 

The General Project Funding supports a variety of projects irrespective of their particular topic or artistic field. The funding competence must clearly lie at the federal level. According to the Foundation’s charter, federal funding can only be provided to larger projects with an international scope.  Link

Berlin AC  –Working Grant for International Artists with Forced Migration Background

The working grant program Berlin AC addresses Berlin-based artists with refugee/forced migration background. It aims to support professional artists in continuing or picking up artistic work again over here at their new temporary or permanent home Berlin. Link
